Challenges
Achieving an optimal balance between stiffness, strength, fatigue durability and mass across chassis and suspension systems required a tightly coupled workflow between CAD design, structural analysis, and physical prototyping. The goal was to accelerate development while maintaining full traceability from loadcase definition to final component design.
Solution: Using Origin, engineers established a unified process encompassing vehicle-level simulation, loadcase definition, finite element structural analysis, and CAD-based design optimisation. The framework enabled precise refinement of chassis and suspension components, supported the generation of 2D manufacturing drawings, and facilitated CNC machining and 3D printing of prototype parts for validation.
Final thoughts
Results: The deployment of Origin enabled a data-consistent, simulation-driven design workflow, improving structural efficiency and reducing iteration time.
By connecting analysis, design, and manufacturing stages, Origin provided a complete digital thread from concept to component, ensuring alignment between simulation targets and physical performance outcomes.
