Aether — Outrigo’s framework for vehicle testing and data analysis — was deployed to create an analytical methodology for defining accelerated durability cycles at both vehicle and subsystem levels.
Understanding the challenge
Traditional durability development relies heavily on long-term proving ground testing procedures and empirical adjustments, making it difficult to correlate real-world load data (RLD) with accelerated test conditions and to tailor for new vehicle systems. The project required a consistent, analytical process to quantify damage accumulation and translate it into representative flexible track-based durability cycles.
Our approach
Using Aether, engineers implemented a complete workflow that integrated RLD data collection, damage accumulation analysis, and analytical cycle synthesis. The framework leveraged statistical load processing and material fatigue modelling to define accelerated whole-vehicle and system-specific durability cycles that maintain correlation with real usage while reducing testing time and cost.
Results
The deployment of Aether delivered a new analytical methodology for durability target definition, improving prediction accuracy and significantly shortening the validation loop. This data-driven approach enhanced confidence in structural and component life assessments and established a repeatable standard for future vehicle programs.
